Children are growing up too fast these days. They don't need help from their unhealthy diet. A University of Michigan study indicates that kids are hitting puberty quicker when they maintain an unhealthy weight.

The blog for "spanking" doesn't seem to be available. I am very troubled that the government is even considering interfering with parental methods used in homes. I agree with the author that spanking is never effective when used violently and in anger. However, sometimes spanking is the only thing that will work with a child who is testing the boundaries. For a child 2 years of age who can not sit still for 10 seconds, time outs are not effective. Besides, they're wearing a poofy diaper. A swat on the behind with your hand doesn't hurt them. It doesn't merrit jail time.

I expect my child to listen to me the first time...not throw a series of fits first. I find that by spanking, I actually dicipline my child far less because he's more obedient. After a spanking, my son actually wants to give me a kiss and goes on playing as before.

I believe in spanking, although it isn't the only method I use. I find that it is very effective and I will continue to spank my child when needed. I will not, however, spank my child in a public environment because it is embarrassing for him and not convenient for myself. Instead, I warn him that he is misbehaving and if it continues, we will go to the car. Most of the time he complies.
