We often hear about the dangers of microwaving foods in plastic containers, but does this really harm us? While yes, substances from plastic containers do leak out into the food, their safeness is determined by the amount that leaks out. Just like with pesticides in foods, there is an “allowable” amount that is safe for consumption. How do they know how much is safe? Of course, The FDA compares this with the amounts that have shown to harm laboratory animals. So, great, rats are actually helping us, but how do we help ourselves? Simply follow the guidelines in this article for safer microwaving.
