I realize the FDA has approved these sweetners, however I am living proof that they are not as safe as they've been portrayed. I suffered from seizures for many years due to aspartame. There is a natural sweetner called Stevia that is actually good for you and extremely sweet. This is a much better option for everyone, dieting or not.

I completely agree with the above comment on Stevia. My family has been using it for about 5 years. We can buy it in the individual packages presentation, and also in "bulk" form in some health foods stores. You need a tiny amount to sweeten your tea/coffee, deserts, etc. so although apparently pricy, a little goes a long way.

I try to ask my client to eat fruit when they have a sugar urge
It gives them something sweet to eat yet healthy.

When I was pregnant with my sons, I was directed to NOT eat any artificial sweeteners. If it wasn't good for my babies, why would I want to use them at all? I sometimes use Stevia, but generally I use less real sugar/honey in my diet.
