A poor sense of smell could be the first sign of Alzheimer's disease, a progressive disorder of the brain. A study testing an individual's olfactory ability found that difficulty identifying common smells such as lemon, banana, and cinnamon may be linked to cognitive decline, ranging from mild impairment to Alzheimer's. However, we are warned not to panic because not all who scored low on the 'scratch-and-sniff' test went on to have cognitive issues.Scratch-and-sniff will never be the same...
