SPA KIDS

Whenever someone mentions the word “spa” I start daydreaming about a place of tranquil delights and relaxation. I never thought there would be the possibility of seeing an 11 year old getting a pedicure or even a massage. Welcome to the age of mini Paris Hiltons! Why do we think kids today need spa treatments? Shouldn't they be thinking about the next piano lesson or soft ball practice? Are parents wanting to play the “friend” role to their kids too much these days? I think we can all agree a little pampering never hurt anyone, and in fact, may even be seen as part of a normal health-care regimen. How early we should start to incorporate this into our regimen is up for debate. Do we feel kids need this as an avenue to unwind from everyday stressors? It’s a fine line to walk to ensure we don’t transform our kids into high maintenance beauty slaves. Think about it…what do you think?

"We are all measured by inches, ages, numbers and all the outside things that don’t add up to who we are on the inside. So let your weight loss journey be one of self-acceptance every step of the way. If you are unhappy with yourself fifty pounds heavier you’ll probably feel the same way when you lose the weight. Happiness is not embedded in outward appearances."
