Herbal and dietary supplements have come under scrutiny lately for a variety of reasons, including the discovery of pesticide residue and mercury in certain supplements (not good!). So, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has come out with a new rule that would require manufacturers to test their ingredients for “safety and purity”.

Although this is all fine and good...what about the effectiveness of these supplements? Are there going to be any regulations for this? There are products out there claiming to cure anything and everything. Shouldn't those claims be accurate?

I suppose knowing that your herbal supplement won't kill you is a good start...but I think we deserve a little more than that!
