Americans are steadily gaining weight?

U.S. researchers are predicting that at the current pace of weight gain, “75 percent of Americans will be overweight by 2015”. Overweight adults are considered those with a BMI above 25. BMI, which stands for Body Mass Index, is used by the medical community as the measure of a healthy weight. The study also shows that 80% of black women ages 40 and above are overweight, with 50% being obese!

Could this be? These numbers are alarming! With the information that everyone has about heart disease and other nutrition-related diseases, why are these numbers not declining, but on the rise instead? Most people nowadays are more knowledgeable about label reading than finances. Even ”trans fat” is on the fall! I'm curious how they came to this prediction.
