We all know what organic foods are and what criteria they must meet, but what on Earth is a “sustainable” food?

Basically, these foods must be grown locally with reduction or total elimination of pesticides, at the same time conserving water and soil. It evens goes a step further to support your local farmers and makes sure their workers are treated fairly too!

So, leave it to our Canadian neighbors to be the first to go beyond the borders of organically farmed foods and produce just that...sustainable foods. I think this is great way to promote local economies and move towards becoming part of the GREEN movement for a cleaner environment. Hopefully, the United States will give this new method a go!
