The holiday season is upon us, so let's be proactive and battle the constant temptations by committing to our exercise programs. I'm not much of a runner myself, but I do enjoy taking walks. If you are like me, you will be very interested in the recent findings about pedometers and their effectiveness.
Researchers have found that those who clipped on this inexpensive step counter “increased their physical activity by more than 2,190 steps per day – a distance that adds up to more than a mile of extra walking.” However, please be advised that most of the success should be attributed to goal setting and using the pedometer as a way to measure one's behavioral change of increasing activity.
