Yes, we are talking about the good ole USA!

In a country where this year 45 new people entered the billionaire status and only 10% of the population owns 81.8 percent of the total real state, we still see those that don’t even have a piece of bread in their stomach by the end of the day. Actually a lot of them don't!

With a slight increase from 2005, 2006 came out with more than 35.5 million Americans that, at any point during the year or regularly, go to bed hungry. The survey from the Agriculture Department was based on Census Bureau data and doesn’t include homeless people.

So, add to that “little” figure 75,000 more which comprised the total homeless population in 2005.

Most of the hungry are single mothers and children, and the highest prevalence was seen in Mississippi, the state with the lowest income per capita in the nation.

So, next time you are eating at the table or gulping some extra food, think about those that don't even have the same amount of food as the “scraps” we leave on our plates.
