Of course most of us know that people who sit for long periods of time gain more weight than those who are moving around...but it doesn't stop there. Researchers have found that the enzymes that are responsible for burning fat shut down when we sit. WOW!

I guess food is not the only enemy in the “Battle of the Bulge.” We need keep a closer eye on the amount of time we spend on electronic games, computers, and television. Companies may even want to reconsider going “paperless.”

What was startling in this research is that exercise alone will not turn on the enzymes, according to Marc Hamilton, associate professor of biomedical science at the University of Missouri Columbia and leader of the research team in this study. This is very Interesting information for those who are trying to lose weight.

The take home message: Along with diet and exercise you may also want to STAND UP!
