It's no secret that flossing regularly helps to prevent bacteria from forming plaque on your teeth, but how is this related to heart disease?Well, when plaque-forming bacteria invade the gum tissues, the body's immune system kicks in as a natural defense. This process is known as inflammation and is now understood to be one of the warning signs and triggers of certain medical conditions, including heart disease.
Knowing this, anything you can do to prevent inflammation is good. Some doctors prescribe a daily dose of aspirin and this article recommends flossing, but what else can we do to maintain a healthy heart?
