The Ultimate Workout Music

Nothing gets your feet moving and your heart pumping like a good beat. Whether it's rock, rap, pop or country that gets you in your workout groove, there's no doubt that music makes a difference.

I have a few different playlists that I listen to when I'm working up a sweat. Depends on my mood that day, I guess. One day Britney Spears might get me motivated, and the next day, it might be Jimi Hendrix that does the trick.

Either way, it's my list, my ears and my headphones -- so no one else has to know about my occasional (and potentially embarrassing) Village People days.

So we want to know: What are your favorite workout songs?

Share them with us by commenting below, and we'll compile the Ultimate Workout Music playlist and share it with you later!

I love to work out to 50's music Bill Haley and his Comets - rock around the clock,
Little Ritchard - Tutti Frutti,
Chuck Berry - Johnny B Goode,
Chubby Checker - The Twist,
Sing, Sing, Sing,
Johnny Cash - Folsom County Jail Blues,
Elvis - Jailhouse Rock,
Everly Brothers - Wake up little Susie
Stray Cats - Rock this town,
Johnny Cash - I've Been everywhere,
The Isley Brothers - Twist and shout
The Coasters - Yakety Yak
It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing.
Also I throw in Jock Jams - Chicken Dance, I like to Move it, etc.

All of these songs are very upbeat, a good pace to keep me moving, and happy sounding to keep me motivated. That is important to help me keep going. (however, it is not Barney!)

I fell in love with this stuff as a kid watching Happy Days and it is not what I listen to, except to work out.

The energy they put in their music gives me the energy to keep pushing when I get tired. It is definitely motivation. Music is a big part of my workout!

Much as I hate to admit this...my favorite workout song is Fergalicious, by Fergie. It's the perfect pace for that "just able to hold a conversation" and it's a little over 7 minutes long so it takes up a big chunk of the cardio portion.

Mr. Brightside, The Killers

The one song that got me through many cross-country seasons was Violent Femmes' Blister in the Sun because it helped me to pace myself. Other songs I like to workout to are:

Loser - Beck
Homeless Man - Scratchtrack
Chemical Party - Gavin DeGraw
All Mixed Up - 311
Good Orderly Direction - Jason Mraz
Too Much Food - Jason Mraz

I think it all depends on how fast you walk/run, etc. Treadmills are so mundane and boring when you can't get outside so I like upbeat music that goes with the tempo of my steps. Love Stoned by Justin Timberlake is a great treadmill/trail song. And anything by Mika gives me more energy!

I love to workout to the sounds of fast paced dance mixes such as those of 4strings, motorcycle "as the rush comes", remix for " the boys of summer", hilary duff remix" Come clean" etc. I like them with the lyrics and not when the tune plays alone. Anymore like these, i will certainly love to have cause i have gotton bored with the cd i have. I also love fast paced bellydancing music because i also bellydance as part of my keep fit program. Examples of music are by paul dinletir. His tracks are great.

Almost anything by David Bowie. I must sit down to exercise and am almost always sitting in front of my computer when I do. So I made a half-hour Bowie playlist and jump around in my seat and really get the blood going!

Should I ever get tired, I can always make other playlists.

I hope this helps any other 'sitters'.

I listen to just about anything. I found that as long as it had a good beat it was great for working out. Some of my favorites are...

Crazy Train -Ozzy Osborne

Superstious -Stevie Wonder

Higer Ground -Red Hot Chili Peppers
(Center Stage Soundtrack)

All or Nothing -Athena Cage
(Save the Last Dance Soundtrack)

Jumpin' Jumpin' -Destiny's Child

Space Cowboy -Steve Miller Band
(good for cool downs)

Reggae Got Soul -311
(Surf's up Soundtrack)

Rough and Ready -Trace Adkins

TROUBLE -Travis Tritt

Immigrant Song -Led Zepplin

Black Dog -Led Zepplin

Barracuda -Heart

Suds in the Bucket -Sara Evans

Fins -Jimmy Buffett

Southern Cross -Jimmy Buffett

The Impression that I get -Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Spiderwebs, I'm just a Girl, Hey Baby, Excuse Me Mr., Sunday Morning -all by No Doubt

Miserable -Lit

That's just some of the stuff I like for working out. I'm glad I found this article. Its going to help me widen the variety of music that I listen to.
