Don’t think of yourself as a nerd if you are all to familiar with GERD! Better known to many as heartburn, GERD or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease, is a widespread problem.
Almost everyone encounters heartburn at one time or another. If the muscle at the lower portion of the esophagus fails to close tightly, acidic stomach contents can back up in to the esophagus causing that heartburn sensation. Certain conditions such as pregnancy and many medications can bring on GERD.
