Thinking About Lasik Surgery?

I can vividly remember the day when the numbers on my alarm clock became fuzzy. I was 11 years old, and the thought of wearing glasses mortified me! There wasn't much else I could do so, reluctantly, I became yet another glasses/contact lens wearer.

The idea of getting Lasik surgery has always been an appealing one to me, but I admit that I can be a wimp about making these types of decisions. If it's not necessary, chances are I won't do it. Well, this article did nothing to change my mind.

Of course, we all know that there are risks involved with any surgery. With Lasik surgery, the possible side effects include “dry eye, double vision, decreased contrast sensitivity and decreased night vision”. Sure, this may not sound like a big deal, but what if you're the one who has to see double for the rest of your life? It may not be such a “minor” side effect then.

Furthermore, you may not get the 20/20 vision that you expected. Some people actually need to continue to wear glasses after surgery!

What are your thoughts on Lasik? If you had it done, were the results positive? Negative? My eyes appreciate your input!
