If you could eat only ONE food for the rest of you life, what would it be?

Don’t ask me how this popped in my head (honestly, you probably don't want to know), these random thoughts usually just come to me at the weirdest times. But no matter whether it was in the shower or during American Idol, I started thinking about which food I would pick if I had to eat the same thing forever, from now on.

And you know what? The answer was simple: bread and butter.

I could live on bread and butter (and I'm pretty sure I basically did growing up). Some of my earliest memories are of my grandfather buttering my bread for dinner -- "You want super-butter?" YES! Of course I want super butter; the more the better.

Give me a loaf of bread and some butter and I'm happier than a pig in, well, you know. I would eat it for breakfast and dinner, lunch and snack, in my house or with a mouse, under the table or with Betty Grable… OK, that's just silly, but you get the point. Bread, do you take Butter? I do. Butter, do you take Bread? I do. (The perfect marriage!)

So if you could pick only ONE food to eat for the rest of your life, what would it be? Share with us by commenting below!

cant be just one. Fresh baked vienna loaf sof and warm on inside, slightly crusty on out, slathered with butter and abit of vegemite (im an aussie) OR a lasagna sandwich- place a warm piece of lasagna made with lotsa white sauce, place on a slice of fresh white bread, top with a slice of cheese then another slice of bread. pop into microwave for 10-20secs until cheese slightly melts. Another aussie one would be a BC chicken sub from super rooster topped with bbq sauce and then stuffed with their hot chips-YUM!! i obviously cant choose just one. OH and pancake wraps- take a pancake, top with bacon, runny poached egg & maple syrup. roll up and then stuff into ur mouth OR mashed potato and gravy on fresh white or multigrain bread mmmmmm...carbs on carbs...needless to say i used to weigh an extra 50kg to what i am now & dont allow myself to eat any of these anymore

A Hot and Smokey Yumm! Bowl from a local restaurant called Cafe Yumm!

It is a bowl filled with brown rice, chipotle chili, fresh salsa, avocado, beans, sour cream, cheddar cheese, olives, diced tomato and Yumm! Sauce. Hold the cilantro.

It's really delicious, filling, and easy to prepare- and I think it could meet the majority of my dietary needs.

Fresh cottage cheese, preferably low fat - and with lots of fresh coarsely ground peppercorns. It goes with everything, so if other food came available...

Hmmm. Thinking seriously about it being the only food to eat ever, I'd agree with the author on the bread and butter. Or perhaps bread and olive oil. Breads can come in many flavors and textures as can butter or oils. It would mitigate the sameness of having the thing day in and day out. Thankful I don't really have to make that choice.

You all have it wrong. There is only one perfect food and that is chocolate. i really do not care how unhealthy it is for you. In fact really dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you.

I couldn't live on one food, but if I had to it would probably have to be bread and butter as I would not be hungry

I like the bread and butter but for me it has to be toasted. The more nuts and seeds in the bread the better. Mmmmm.........

I could eat cereal every meal, every day. It satisfies me faster and longer than anything I know. Maybe add strawberries and I'm in heaven. It lasts me for a good 7 or 8 hours before I even get hungry again.
