The election is right around the corner, and America is preparing to vote for their favorite candidate. While some voters may choose their nominee based on personality, party lines or their stance on important issues, we do it a little differently here at eDiets. We think the president should be chosen based on his favorite foods. Sound silly? Well, you can tell a lot about someone by what they eat. As French lawyer, author and gastronome Jean Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755-1826) once said, "Tell me what you eat and I will tell you what you are."
Hail to the Chef
Barack Obama's favorite food to cook is chili; he's been making it since college and he even shared the Obama family chili recipe with Good Morning America. It sounds like the perfect treat on a cold Chicago night. There's nothing more American than chili, right?
John McCain has been known to break out the grill and cook for guests at his Arizona home as one of the ways he relaxes after campaigning. This grill maverick uses a dry rub for baby back ribs that's straight out of the Wild, Wild West.
Kitchen Table Politics
Since both men probably have little time to cook their favorite foods lately, what are they eating? Both sides can come across the aisle to agree on one thing: Pizza is good. McCain takes his slice with pepperoni and onions while Obama prefers cheese or Margherita, according to campaign insiders.
Beyond grabbing a quick slice at a place called the Italian Fiesta Pizzeria (which is kind of a strange name), Obama also enjoys Mexican food from a place called Topolobampo. He can also be found chomping on heart-healthy nuts and veggies, especially broccoli and spinach. Obama doesn't like mayonnaise.
McCain and Obama not only agree on pizza, but they also have similar tastes. McCain enjoys Tex-Mex from a place called Tee Pee, according to a spokeswoman for the McCain campaign. He also enjoys shrimp, doughnuts and, of course, barbeque. McCain admits, however, that "I don't do too well with vegetables."
So there you have it! That's everything you need to know about the presidential candidates. Well, maybe not everything you need to know, but everything you need to know to vote for our unofficial presidential food poll!

You are right, the site isn't working, like the economy. Everyone needs to work hard, do a quality job, and don't expect to do one thing right for 5 minutes and get paid a million a month as a thank you. We all need to live on a budget.

It seems that Obama's tastes are very similar to my own......his chili recipie is nearly identical to what I make. And guess what!!?? So are our views on politics !
And I would never ever vote with anyone who had a problem with vegetables. John McCain's diet says a lot about why he's such a cranky old man !!

You say John McCain is a cranky old man. I don't see that, but even if he were cranky....he deserves to be after all the sacrifices he endured for our country. I wonder if you would be cranky after spending 4-5 years in a POW camp being tortured. John McCain conducts himself with great integrity and humility. He has done more more the United States of American than Barak HUSSEIN Obama ever will.

McSame IS a cranky, very stressed-out old man. The fact you can't see it is disturbing to me. He did survive in a PW camp for several years, that DOES NOT qualify him for President. He's not a maverick anymore, he is slinging as much mud or more than Bush did against him in 2000. That's not heroic behavior. That's the sign of a frightened loser! If McSame does win (Oh please don't let that happen God) -He doesn't do well with veggies - for heaven's sake stay away from them - don't do anything that could move that idiot Palin closer to the presidency.

How is Italian Fiesta Pizzeria a strange name? Sounds better than Tee Pee! Besides, I am from Chicago, and Italian Fiesta Pizzeria pizza is some good pizza!!!

His patronage of Topolobambo makes him up-to-date and classy! Topo. has world-wide rep. for local, artisanal, seasonal GREAT FOOD. Google Rick Bayless, the owner and chef.

Come on now folks, lets look at the whole picture, John McCain is a man of high integrity and he loves the United States of America and it's people. And he has proven that, on the other hand, Barak Obama is also a man of honesty and truthfulness, he loves America as well and wants ALL of us who work hard everyday to have the opportunities that we deserve to live OUR dream whatever it may be.
Barak Obama has an economic plan that can be broken down and understood by all, it's open, clean and transparent. And it appears it will work for 95% of American's, those of us who are not in the 250,000 dollar bracket. I feel we will all be in a better place once Barak Obama is able to implement his plan in January 2009.

What does Barack Obama's middle name have to do with his service to this country? Also, I thought the article was about chili, pizza, and Tex Mex....

I vote for McCain. Never cared much for mexican. Wonder why my vote didnt count. Ayers must be screwing with this system too! What service has Obama ever rendered for this country. Please just list three besides his "present" appearance as a Senator.

Topolobampo is really a fantastic place. It was named best Mexican food in North America. I am from Chiacgo and have only been there once. It is very expensive.

Hey every one I thought this was a wonderful blog!! I too share Mr. Obama"s love for chilli! But it seems that some are using this for a forum of discussion so then I ask this for Mr. McCain to be sooo honorable he and Ms. Palin both like to really sling mud why? It is a fact that the negativity began with Mr.McCain's failure during the debates And here is a little side note,,I have several friends and family who have and are serving this great country and many are asking why Mr.McCain's service records have been "SEALED"? THATS RIGHT YOU HEARD IT!You cant "see" it, I wonder why? As for Ms. Palin's fight for children with disabilities, my son has autism and I have supported both research and educational assistance for families and not once have I every seen or read of any measure that she has spearheaded.

Don't anybody be putting down the Tee Pee restaurant! I live in Phoenix and it's my favorite place to go - an atmosphere like where everybody knows your name. It's family owned and operated. The food is fabulous (best red chili on the planet!). I saw McCain there a year ago or so. He was sitting at the same table that "W" sat at when he made a surprise visit there a few years ago (which displays a plaque saying the president ate there - there's even a "presidential" item on the menu of what Bush ordered that day). Even though I'm an Obama supporter, I must say John McCain has great taste in food!

I didn't pick my names-my parents did-so did Obama's. That doesn't make him unpatriotic or a bad candidate for president. Neither does being a former POW make McCain a better one. Evaluate the candidates on their stance on the issues. Obama seems to have a better-and more steady-grasp of what is needed to set America on the right path. As in the past, we won't actually know until the winner is in office and doing the job.

There's no doubt that Nobama's recipe was stolen ... and now he wants us to 'share' in the guilt.
