Diet Myths #12
12. Drinking cold water speeds weight loss.
False. If it sounds too good to be true... well, you know! Cold water is just one of those myths that defy explanation! Scientists can measure the thermogenetic (or fat-burning) properties of food; however, drinking or eating a specific food won't make you lose weight. And, if you eat too much of any food (calories), then you will gain weight. Water, cold or hot, is good for you, but it won't make you lose weight.

Drinking cold water will definitely reduce the appetite and make the body lose more body heat.So it is better to drink cold water if you want to control food intake and reduce your body weight.
Warmer foods will make you eat more increasing your calorie intake. So I always prefer to eat food at room temperature

It actually does help you to burn more cal. However it does this becuase it needs to get the water temp up to body temp. Which uses more engery. However you would not seem this have any effect on a person weight however.

I lied and agree with you, but I read that on a paranoid site that if you eat meat and drink some cold green tea, you would die, and I just didn't drink tea since I only like cold green tea, then I found out I can enjoy cold tea and meat and live so now its going well for me now. I hate how the emails I get try to make me worried about all I eat or drink, too much to be worried about.

I've read many times that if you drink cold/ice water, it takes more energy to warm up the water. Either way, I prefer ice water, taste better I think. I fill up plastic water bottles with water and freeze them. I then take one out and let it slowly defrost and it will have an ice cube in it for a good 4 to 5 hours.
