Diet Myths #14
14. Drinking milk can make you congested.
Allergies can produce symptoms, including congestion, sneezing, hives, rashes, upset stomach and diarrhea. A severe allergic reaction can even produce anaphylaxis. Dairy eaters produce the enzyme lactase in the small intestine necessary to digest lactose, milk sugar in milk. Those who do not produce this digestive enzyme may experience bloating, cramping and diarrhea from milk, but may enjoy milk products treated with lactase and not suffer intolerance symptoms.

This makes no seance, but some people do have allergies to such things as nuts and chocolate so this is just one of those, I didn't understand the question, but I know that milk has sugar in it and fat.

I don't feel the question was fully answered. They talked about milk causing bloating and diarrhea. Can milk cause congestion or not? I believe it does cause congestion (like excess phlegm) for some, because that is my usual experience with it. I am a periodic cereal lover and I notice a difference from when I'm regularly eating it to when I'm not.

I have problems with dairy for a long time. I have probelems with congestion when I eat any dairy products so I don't. When I want to eat cereal, I use a half and half blend of Rice milk and Almond milk to avoid problems I have with milk.
