We all know it's the little things that add up, so we keep a mindful eye of what we put on our plates, the last thing we want to do is fill up on the dreaded empty calories! But what about what goes in our glasses? You could easily drink away half a day's worth of calories and not even know it, so here's a heads up so you can keep your weight down and still enjoy your favorites:Wine and Champagne – A glass of wine or champagne comes in anywhere between 75 and 100 calories per 4-ounce serving. You can toast to those numbers (in moderation of course)! You can also enjoy that same glass of wine for a little longer by mixing it with some diet lemon-lime soda! Call it a Spritzer, or mix it ahead of time and marinate some apples and oranges in it a while and call it Sangria!
Cocktails – Regular sodas, juices, and mixers are all loaded with sugars and unwanted calories. Enjoy your cocktails with a wedge of orange, lemon, or lime, diet or club sodas or tonic water. Or try flavored tonic waters for a fruity spritzed up change!
Egg Nog – Traditional eggnog is over 300 calories and 17 grams of fat – in just ONE 8-ounce cup! Throw in a little rum and you've got a full meal in a cup! This holiday, stick to the non-fat and low-fat prepared varieties, and keep it alcohol-free. Or instead, get that taste of the season with a little touch of nog in your morning or after-dinner coffee!
Hot Chocolate – Use mixes that are labeled "no sugar added" or "diet" -- or make your own with unsweetened cocoa, a little splenda, and prepare with skim milk or water. If you're out and about, stick with the small size, skip the whip and request skim milk to easily save on empty calories!
Water – You can't go wrong here! Water helps keep you hydrated AND keeps your stomach from feeling empty. If you need something warm, try some decaf, herbal, or green tea instead for a guilt-free, calorie-free indulgence!

Tonic water is really no different than any other soft drink--fizzy and full of sugar. Like soft drinks, there are diet versions you can buy, but you have to check the label.

I dont do tonic water or sodas, dont like the 'fizz'. I use to do light cranberry but that turned out gross, so now i have changed to crystal light. There are many varities and it tastes good without all the extra calories. Or you can try a falvored liquor with a light lemonade, also delish!
