How can I lose weight before my graduation? -- Monica
I love Monica’s question because most of us are probably thinking of this one in some way or another. Whether we want to lose weight before a graduation, a wedding, summer vacation, the family trip, it’s all the same -- we want it gone and fast!
Well, if only it was that easy, right? Personally, I want some of it gone by the beginning of summer. I have a few things planned outdoors and being from Florida, most of my time will be spent outside. So what can you do?
The first thing you should do is mentally acknowledge your goal (in your case, losing weight). Next, make some changes – small changes are good – to get to that goal. Fast and easy isn’t always good; usually, things that happen more slowly amount to the biggest changes (and success). Lastly, always remember your goal (lose weight by graduation) and think positively.
Start with small steps like increasing your water intake or keeping an eye on portions (make them smaller). Pick whole, natural foods (fruits, veggies, whole grains) versus processed, prepared meals/snacks. Skip that second helping and get moving any way you can. If you are a regular soda drinker, limit it or switch to water (this can save you hundreds of calories).
For those of you, who eat out for lunch, bring your lunch (this helps keep an eye on portion control). Try little things that help you change your lifestyle in a big way. Believe me, the little things make a difference and will help you feel the changes mentally -- and see them physically!
eDiets can help you with the portion control and meal planning, as well as the fitness and support. Check out our community. Plus, besides myself, we have an awesome Nutrition Support Team that can assess your needs and recommend a plan that is right for you.

Hi, My name is Romena and I have a question for you. I was diagnosed with diabetes (2), HBP, and Cholesterol last year. Im 42 years old and weight 155 lbs. I immediately started taking control and lost 10 in 6 months, that took forever. Im so discouraged now because I recently lost my job and now I just let myself go and gained back 5 lbs. Its showing. But the problem is that I cannot go back into my routine. Something is stopping me and I am nothing but hungry all the time. I hate exercising and am very depressed about it that its making me argue with my friends, family and boyfriend too. Can u help me?? Suicide has been on my mind several times and cannot take it anymore. I'm very pretty and very talented in singing but this big bulge ( stomach) is ruining my life. People are always congratulating me on my pregancy. I unfortunately have no kids and am not pregnant. Pls give me advise asap.
thanks

I'm sorry you lost your job, that can make anyone very upset. Why don't you set up an appointment with a nutrition counselor - there is probably a free clinic in your area if your insurance has run out. Mention your depression as well. You can't make yourself not depressed, you should really talk to someone qualified about it.

if you are having suicidal thoughts please call your doctor right now. Or even 911. You are depressed and need help. It's nothing to be ashamed of and once you feel better you can start tackling your weight loss.

You might want to try Adipex. It works and helps kick start the weightloss. Also I hear a lot of people who get on Wellbutrin, the antidepressant, lose a lot of weight quickly. And you should check your thyroid/hormone levels. Good luck don't give up. Go see a good weightloss doc that gives meds. Get on a good meal delivery plan and get a personal trainer.

its so difficult to shed weight if ur blood sugar is not in control. i started the gym and train 5 days a week, both aerobic and weight training along with pilates and yoga. two hours a day. but in one month with all control over my sweet tooth i still have not shed a single pound. i am disappointed. my blood glucose are normal but on a higher side, even a step across. especially the morning levels.

Romena, go to a registered physcologist. You need help. Your uncontrollable and irrational hunger, thoughts of suicide, and fighting are screaming for help. More help than you can give yourself. Go and see a doctor so they can help you manage some of the stress of losing your job. Good luck!
