That's right – Donna is now an IronMan!

In just over 14 hours, Donna swam 2.4 miles, road her bike 112, and than ran 26.2 miles to cross that finish line! I'm not sure about most of you, but sometimes I barely keep my eyes open for 14 hours, let alone compete in an event that takes me over 140 miles!

I asked Donna to talk about how she made it through that event, what she did to prepare, endure, and ultimately finish something of that magnitude. Donna made it sound simple. She said basically, "I just kept going!" She adapted to setbacks, regrouped, and kept moving forward.

Sound familiar? Perhaps it's just like YOUR journey to better health, just like the journey Donna had been on in the years leading up to this event, that brought her to her over 100 pound weight loss.

Even having completed an event like that, Donna knows one of the biggest hurdles we face is just getting started, that it's that first step in our journey that is the hardest. I asked Donna what her first steps to fitness were, how she went from sitting on the couch, to IronMan athlete! She said, "It was exactly that, Cathy, I started just by walking a few steps." Donna says people should learn from her mistakes though, challenge yourself, yes, but make sure you listen to your body and progress slowly, she remarks, "as babies we have to learn to crawl before we can walk."
