Life's Odyssey, “A challenge unlike any other. Have you ever felt that you can't find success and reach your goals simply because ‘life gets in the way’? Life's Odyssey is more than a diet; it is a challenge that teaches you to make healthy life style changes. Join this fun, eventful journey, as we take on the challenge of life for a healthy mind and body.” That's the description provided by Life's Odyssey on their forum!
Life's Odyssey will be celebrating its 100th Challenge beginning next week! Their challenge (LO100) will run from 3/16/09 to 4/5/09. This is such an awesome milestone for this Challenge, so we wanted to share a little more about it!
Life’s Odyssey has been a popular and strong challenge within the eDiets Community for a number of years. Members work as part of a team to earn points for building healthy habits. Points are awarded for nutrition (staying on track with their eDiets meal plan), performing the special LO workout (called "OARS," a new one is created for each challenge by Raphael Calzadilla, our Chief Fitness Pro), water intake (a key component for successful weight loss!), and special challenges!
Many LO participants have been active in the challenge for years, and a number have lost 50+ pounds while participating in the challenge, and at least one has lost an amazing 100 pounds! Quite a number of our testimonials participated in the LO along their journey, too.
The first round of this exciting challenge began on 8/13/01, just over 7 ½ years ago! Possibly the longest participant of this challenge is Judy (aka GRANDME26). Not only has she participated in the LO, but she’s the Captain for the Spirited Spartans team and also helps the Moderator keep the LO running as a project mate. She joined the challenge somewhere between LO1 and LO9 and is still going strong with her team!
Judy said she “would recommend the LO to others for the friendships, support, caring, knowledge and the professional way it has evolved to today. The LO has to be the best Challenge going and I will be here until I am too old to type or too blind to see anymore.”
Another longtime member, Marcia (aka MSMARCIA), has been participating in Life’s Odyssey since LO 10 – 19 as part of the Blazing Sirens team. Three other members have been lengthy participants since joining during rounds LO 20 – 29: Carla (aka DANCESTAMP), Carol (aka PSALMSOFJOY) and Debby (aka DEBBYDIVER). Carla is part of the Champion Attitudes team while Carol and Debby both participate as part of the Tower of Power Team. Debby is one of our testimonials, so you may have read her inspiring story in the past. Way to go, ladies!
Carla shared the following about her challenge experience: “I have gained a lot of friends on LO. We are all on this journey together at different [stages] in our weight loss journey, and we are all there to support each other no matter where we are in the journey. We do not judge each other; we just support each other.” Carol told me that the only way she’s ever lost weight was being a member of LO. She shared, “I quit several years ago because I thought I knew what I was doing, but without the LO I had no accountability.”
She regained the weight she had lost, plus some and found herself at an all-time high weight. She told me, “I moaned and I groaned and I started working my ‘weigh’ through one diet after another until (light bulb!) I realized the only time I have ever lost weight steadily and healthy was on eDiets and the LO. I give my all most of the time to the LO! The LO brings me a circle of like-minded women at the click of a button.”
The LO crew is thrilled to be celebrating their 100th Challenge, so they’ve put some special things in place for this next round. They are going to be using special team signature tags for LO100. In addition, daily challenges will be posted with a lot of them being centered on “100”, like posting 100-calorie snacks, 100 leg lifts, etc. They will be giving members a chance to earn 100 extra points during the LO by participating in these special challenges. That’s only a taste of the cool things the current Moderator, Lisa, of the challenge shared with me, so if you’ve ever been interested in the Life’s Odyssey challenge – or if this is the first time you’re learning of it – please consider signing up to participate in this very special challenge round! It is sure to be LOTS of fun and will also help you to make positive progress with your goals.
The Life’s Odyssey Fleet Officers shared the following message…
“Come join us in our wonderful, supportive challenge. We build on what we believe are our basic fundamentals in becoming fit and healthy. We have seen many people lose weight and hit milestones while facing tough challenges in their personal lives. Somehow they put themselves and their health as a priority and took the steps needed to lose weight. We are honored to be part of helping people change their lives.”
Congratulations to all challenge participants and a special thanks to the challenge’s current Moderators and Crew for all the help you provide within Life’s Odyssey! This includes: LISA4137 and MARION428 (Co-Moderator for the challenge), DIANEINTN, GRANDME26, LUV2BELOVED, MUMMYCOOKE and SUEBEE456. Thank you for a terrific challenge!
It’s terrific to be part of a team – to cheer one another on and get through hurdles together – and that’s why we thoroughly recommend joining at least one of our Challenge Groups.
There are six official Challenge Groups currently available at eDiets.com. They range in length from three weeks to eight weeks, and the Life’s Odyssey is three weeks in length. They run three weeks on and one week off for wrap up and sign-ups during that interim week. It takes 21 days to form a habit, so why not consider joining Life’s Odyssey next week for their 100th Challenge? You will love it!
