Paula’s goals were pretty simple in 2008 when she first joined forces with eDiets; she wanted to enjoy the simple things! Going across the monkey bars with her kids at the playground and being a good role model topped her list. This 30-something mom says she may not have had a lot of weight to lose, but the weight she had kept her from being able to keep up with her two young kids and being totally confident on stage…Paula is an Opera Singer!
Like many, Paula had tried other plans in the past, and each time she had success with it and would lose the weight, “but whenever I would reach my goal I didn’t want to go anymore. Their focus was on losing but not maintaining, and the public weigh-in was not appealing.” Paula said she reached her goal twice before, but “never really ‘got’ maintenance.”
When Paula came to eDiets in August of 2008, she weighed in at 148lbs. Paula chose and follows the eDiets Vegetarian meal plan. She says the recipes are super easy to make, and having the substitution guide made it even easier to customize her meals to suit her needs and those of her family. Occasionally when she would “wing it” on her own, she would use the Nutrition Tracker and that helped her stay within her calorie guidelines. She says that the plans are easy to follow and understandable, and that on the boards it’s all about the amazing help from the experts (nutritionists) and everyone else, fellow members who have a ton of knowledge and experience with all the different plans.
Today Paula has lost 30lbs and has kept it off for the past 7 months! She laughs and tells me she can hold her own on the monkey bars, too!
Of her success, Paula says it best, “eDiets was definitely most of my success! Because of the support boards, all the tools…I couldn’t have stuck to the plan with all of that. The meal plan is just one of many tools, but having someone to be accountable to and checking in on you…I would say it’s almost impossible to reach those goals without all of that. The rest came from me, building confidence to try new things and exercise more. I used to hate exercise, I hated to sweat, but when other people do well and rock a workout, it makes me want to do it too!”
“I’m becoming a role model, not just for my kids and family, but now also for the singing community. People ask me, “What do you do? How do you do it?” My confidence level has increased tremendously, and my self-esteem. I feel really good, WOW! I never liked clothing shopping, now it’s so much fun. I’m keeping up with my kids. I’m learning to love just moving! I used to hate to exercise but now I love it, now I have “cuts” from strength training….I never thought I’d have abs!”
Paula says she enjoys being in the role model role so much and people ask her what she “does” so much that she’s thinking about becoming certified as a Personal Trainer so she can help others. Paula never knew she could do lose the weight, keep it off, or feel this good, and now she wants to help others discover all that too.
You can’t ask for more than that, can you?
