Half Her Size – 150lb Success Story!

These days, most people take one look at Cristina’s ID badge at work and say, “Who’s that? That isn’t you!” Cristina just smiles. Looking at Cristina now, you might not believe this slim and trim, young 30-something once weighed 326 pounds either! But that’s exactly where she started her weight-loss journey.

At her highest weight, Cristina suffered from sleep apnea, an irregular heartbeat, asthma, and a myriad of other chronic health conditions related to obesity. Cristina recalls being overweight her whole life, putting forward a false sense of comfort with herself and her body to shield herself from the disapproving eyes and comments. She says she even tried to convince herself that her health problems and her discomfort were not a result of her weight but from genetics, or just plain bad luck.

But things changed for Cristina in 2007. She had never dieted before, so why now? Cristina joined the eDiets Weight-Loss plan in March of 2007 at the suggestion of her sister. Her sister had joined and wanted a partner to help her through. Cristina agreed to join her for just one month. After losing an incredible 8 pounds in just the first week, she was motivated and became unstoppable!

Cristina credits eDiets with teaching her how to eat properly. Following the recipes and preparing the meals taught her about portion control and how to combine the right foods for a balanced meal. Cristina says it took a lot of hard work and dedication and that it was not always easy. She had to juggle being a single, working mom and full-time student while still finding time to shop and prepare her meals, spend time with her son, and finding time to work out!

Cristina’s meal plan and determination kept her on track through it all, and soon she started adding in some walking for fitness. She didn’t do much at first, but now walks up to 5 miles per day and these days has quite the collection of home gym equipment!

Just two years later, Cristina weighed less than half her former weight — an astounding total weight loss of 176 pounds, nearly 150 with eDiets! She is fit, sexy, happy and healthier than ever!

And we’re not the only ones impressed by her amazing weight loss — she was featured on the cover of PEOPLE Magazine as part of an article on people who are now half their size. She also appeared on NBC’s TODAY Show for her incredible weight-loss transformation!

Today Cristina has kept the weight off by following a regimented nutrition program and continuing to exercise 5-6 days per week. Cristina is true inspiration to anyone who needs to lose weight. With the right plan, the right mindset and the right support, anything is possible.

I immediately went on-line and found e-diets due to watching Christina on the Today Show. She and the others made me realize that I too could loose the weight without joining expensive gyms, etc. That I might be able to do this at home. I'm starting TODAY and hopefully… will loose the extra 35 pounds I've had on for years.

Anything is possible on ediets. I know, as I had lost 140 here, from 2005 to 2007-ediets even took pics and interviewed me at the 07 April meeting in Ft. Lauderdale. But then I dropped out as one parent took ill and then they both passed with 40 days in 2008. Pretty much any healthy mindset of diet and exercise left there when they died, and here I found myself end of December 2009, back nearing the 300 pound mark again. And yes, I am reopening my membership and will be rejoining the challenge group that offered me so much support here.

Hi – My only question at this point is I noticed that the meal plan is between 1100-1600 calories. Since I am only 5' and weigh 156 lbs. my concern is that 1600 may be a bit high for my size. Can you shed some light on that? Thanks

I have insulin resistance. I had PCOS and recently had a total hysterectomy. Everyone said be careful, after the surgery I will gain weight. I didn't gain, but having a hard time losing weight. I am on HRT since I am so young. Any advice? Should I see a nutritionist? About 4 years ago i went out of state to get HCG injections to lose weight and i did lose it, just gained it back with having to take steroids for asthma. Please help

  • Unycorn1962

Annmarie–this was posted back in May. How much have you lost in 2 months?

  • PameDiets

Hi Ginaz, you are right, some individuals do gain weight with surgery (as noted) and/or steroid use. Good that you aren’t in that group but I hear you with the challenge now to lose the weight. Dietitians’ can certainly help – would love to know your specific eating pattern, meal plan, level of exercise….that could help to assess maybe why you are having a difficult time losing the weight and where we could help you make some changes to reach your goal. Contact our nutrition support team at http://www.nutrition@ediets.com to touch base with our team (nutrition experts).

  • Kim

hi, this is my first experience on dieting. i have been a no bigger than a size 10. over the last two years i have found that i have thyroid problems and have recently had to take steroids for a cyberknife procedure, which the dr. told me that cravings would be a side affect.. i also have incontinence which prevents me from running. so i walk. i try and have walked three times a week for 5 miles each day. but i dont see any improvement. my downfall is coke. i know that is not helping at all. what do you think of the new full bar?

  • PameDiets

Hi Kim, good to hear you are walking and keeping active. As you mentioned, steriods can affect you in terms of cravings, increased appetitie, etc. The movement (as much as you can do) and the monitoring of your diet will play a key role. Have you tried keeping track of your daily intake and/or following a meal plan specifically to keep the calories in check? that can definately help. As for the coke – especially if it is not diet….it can add extra calories on as you know. Try limiting your intake and substituting it out with water, non-calorie drink, etc….write to us at nutrition@ediets.com. Can help some more!
