How can I reward myself for success?
You’ve been working hard, staying on track and adhering to your meal plan. Shouldn’t you get something for all that effort? Absolutely! You should reward yourself for your achievements, big or small. Reaching your goal(s) is part of success and just as important is the journey you take along the way.
Rewards don’t necessarily have to be at the end — why not reward yourself when you reach a small or mini goal (i.e. like eating more fruits and vegetables this week)? When we acknowledge ourselves for our accomplishments, it makes us feel good about our victories and keeps the motivation soaring.
Success and its rewards are different for each of us. An achievement like exercising 15 minutes twice a week may be a considerable accomplishment for some, while omitting that diet soda may be extremely significant for another. Think of ways that you can give yourself a little something without steering yourself away from all your accomplishments:
- Enjoy some time relaxing with a good book or magazine.
- Treat yourself to some pampering (pedicure, massage, haircut).
- Get a small token to remind yourself you reached a goal (a fun piece of costume jewelry, journal book, a fun water container, new shirt, etc.)
- Treat yourself to a new product – nail polish, body wash, shaving cream…this can make you feel refreshed.
- Spend time with your family and friends showing off the new you.
No matter what the challenge is and how we beat it, reward yourself! You deserve to treat yourself right!
