1. Which has more fiber: a) lettuce, b) tomatoes, or c) cucumbers?

b) Tomatoes! Tomatoes have the most fiber, iceberg lettuce the least. Compare a cup of chopped lettuce (less than a gram of fiber) to cucumber (about 1 gram) to tomato (about 2 grams per cup). Add broccoli florets (4 grams) plus some shredded cabbage (about 2 more grams) to boost the fiber.

Hey, people. The most important factor in losing weight isn't fiber…it's burning more cals than you eat. Duh. Fiber is filling and is good for your digestive system, though. Also, it totally depends on the type of lettuce–red leaf, green leaf, romaine, and definitely uncooked spinach ALL have significantly more fiber in them than iceberg OR cucumbers, and more than tomatoes in the case of the spinach.

    Hi Vern,

I agree that eating healthy is costly but one way to save money is to start your own vegetable patch. Also, throw in some herbs and spices. Not only will you save money you will also get better produce. Let's face it the produce found in grocery stores is beat up and withered.

ok iceberg doesn't have much fiber, so what about romain lettuce?

Also if you don't have a green thumb or green house. You find a farmers market or a small mom and pop grocery shop. the price are more much lower than the grocery chain stores.
