Hi Everyone,

Well, the ball is in motion. I just watched the car service take my sister down the winding road away from my home in the Hollywood hills and back to Winter Haven, Fla. I can’t help but wonder just how long and winding her journey will really be, having presented the eDiets concept to her.

I was right to propose this potential life-changer in person versus over the phone in one of our weekend marathon conversations. We’ve been forced to learn how to “do phone” very, very well over the years, as life has seemed to always keep us at least 2000 miles apart.

Whenever she or I move to new locations, it’s critical that we visit each other immediately so we both have a mental picture of each other’s new physical surroundings.

Where the kitchen is, where our offices are, what chair we’re sitting in when we talk to each other, what our bedrooms look like, what we’re both looking at when were on the phone or wandering through our homes…all these mental snapshots have allowed us to be with "virtually" with each other in a very intimate way.

When she comes to LA, I usually play "big brother Hollywood" and try to take her to places she’s never been, or spots she sees on her favorite TV shows. In my closet hangs her chic, all-black LA outfit that I bought for her to wear whenever we go out on the town.

But this time, her Hollywood outfit would remain quietly in its drycleaner bag. We had decided to stay house bound and treat this visit like we just lived next door to each other. I knew she really did not want to see anyone or anything, as we knew this visit was going to be some kind of turning point. What type? I was not sure.

As the dark windowed, black Town car disappeared beyond the bend where Ryan Seacrest lives, past the big eucalyptus tree and up to the crest of the hill, I miss Laura already and will be emotionally holding her hand as she leaves La- La-land for her journey back to Florida and the reality of her complicated life.

For seventy-two hours we sat on either poolside talking about life, or she sat at the center island in my kitchen as I cooked and served her as many gourmet delights as I could think of. All her favorites—no guilt—last hurrah before the eDiets chapter of her life began.

This was the first posting I received ...

Laura,

As I read your blog I thought to myself, that these mirror my experience throughout my life. Especially, the seat belt on the plane.

But I sense your sense of determination and with your brother's support you will succeed.
