I am on the hunt for the perfect mascara but I haven't found anything I am happy with. Can you recommend a good one?

Mascaras come in many different formulas depending on what you want it to do. Here are some mascaras, from drugstore to department store that you may want to check out. Most are available in a variety of colors, and all come in some form or black and/or brown.
Lengthening
The most popular lengthening mascara now is Lancome Definicils, which defines and lengthens lashes. Most formulas for this type of mascara are relatively light in texture and separate lashes for individual shape and definition. If you like the look of long, defined lashes, this is the type of mascara you want.
Thickening
If you have naturally long but sparse lashes, you may want to look into a thickening mascara, which is creamier than a lengthening version. These mascaras need to be applied carefully, or you run the risk of getting clumps. A good, inexpensive one to try is Maybelline Full ‘N Soft, which makes lashes appear full but neat. Vincent Longo mascara is also an excellent choice to darken and plump up lashes.
Lengthening and Thickening
Many women choose this type of mascara because most of us do not have long or full lashes, which is why we wear mascara in the first place. This formula will give you a dramatic, "false lash" look. There are lots of different ones on the market you can try. My personal favorites right now are Yves Saint Laurent Luxurious Faux Cils Mascara and MAC Fibre Rich Mascara. Both contain tiny fibers to plump and lengthen for intense and exaggerated lashes. For nights out or special occasions, this type of mascara is perfect.
Curling
There is a lot of debate over curling mascaras, and I have still not made my mind up about these formulas. As a makeup artist, I always curl my lashes before applying mascara, so whether it is a curling formula or not is not that important to me. Many busy women like the idea of skipping that step, which is why curling mascaras are so popular. Most curling mascaras work by shrinking the lash slightly as it dries, which results in a slight curling effect. If you don't have 30 seconds to spare (which is really how long it takes to curl your lashes with an eyelash curler), you can try Christian Dior Diorshow mascara, which lengthens, thickens and curls. Another alternative is Maybelline Sky High Curves.
Natural
If you are blessed with naturally long, lush lashes, but want to add some definition and color, you can either use a clear mascara or a lightweight mascara that just deepens the lashes. Two very popular ones are Clinique Naturally Glossy and Maybelline Great Lash.
Lash Conditioners and Primers
A lash primer is usually a white, fibrous cream or gel that is applied before mascara to thicken and elongate lashes. Some people rave over these products, while others believe they create another unnecessary step. If you do curl your lashes, do so before applying the primer. Revlon Lash Fantasy mascara has the primer on one end and the color mascara on the other. Some companies also make the primer/conditioner separately, such as Smashbox Layer Lash Primer and you can use your favorite mascara on top. If you decide to try a primer, keep in mind that your mascara will not be waterproof.

I'm have blonde eyelashes and have yet to find a mascara that lengthens, plumps... whatever that actually works. I've gone the inexpensive route to the expensive, many brands (using Chanel now) and no difference. I always buy black too. It looks like I don't have any on. A suggestion here would help.

Some more tips: Start by coating the top of your lashes with downward strokes, before you brush upward from beneath. And don't forget to comb your lashes after applying mascara to get rid of any clumps. xoxo Mimi Morgan

If you use Lancome Hypnoze Mascara, you wot regret. It does it all & lenghthen & thicken & curl them. All in one. Try, i advise.

To the girl with the blond eyelashes. Finally, someone with the same problem as me. I have natural blond hair and the same thing happens to me. When I buy the volume, length, etc. mascaras, they actually weigh my lashes down!! I curl them and when I apply them my lashes droop. I have been using Maybelline Full & Soft but it does nothing to make then look longer. I also look like I have nothing on!!! Also, I have no visible eyebrows. How about you!!!

Olive oil!!!! It works to thicken hair and eyelashes!!! Not to mention tighten pores!
Try taking a cotton ball, dipping it lightly in olive oil and dab it or wipe it across your lashline right before you go to sleep. I find this helps in strengthening and lengthening my eyelashes. (Note, your eye will probably collect sticky stuff at your tear ducts - but thats okay)
As for mascara, I use Maybelline (The green one is my fav... and sometimes the pink one - bottle colours). These mascara's don't curl though.
I'm always complimented on my eyelash length and thickness.
