Summer is a time to break out the short shorts, skirts and bikinis. With all of the body-baring the season brings, shaving can be a dreadful daily chore.

One of the most annoying things about shaving is razor bumps and ingrown hairs. Who has time to deal with red, irritating unsightly bumps? Thankfully, we’ve got some simple solutions for a smooth, silky bump-free shave:

1. Always start with a fresh, clean blade. Blunt blades will leave you with a painful and less-effective shave.

2. Exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate! Try using a gentle loofah to remove dead skin cells to prevent annoying red bumps and ingrown hairs.

3. Try to stay out of salt water, chlorine and the sun — they can irritate just-shaved skin.

4. Spa brand fix: Try Bliss Ingrown Hair Eliminating Peeling Pads ($35). They have a hydroxy-acid solution that helps battle bumps and redness.

5. Drugstore fix: For cheaper, bump-soothing help, look for Bikini Zone 2% with Lidocaine ($7.99).

Do you have your own solutions for those blasted bumps? Have you tried any of these up here? Help us girls out and share!
