Bacon Candy reminds me of an appetizer I used to make that my friends call "Crack Weinies." You start with Lil Smokies sausages. Wrap each in 1/3 of a piece of bacon. Arrange on a foil-lined cookie sheet. Cover with brown sugar and bake at 350 until the sugar caramelizes and the bacon is cooked. Then, pour on a sauce made of chili sauce, brown sugar, and mayo. You have to pour the sauce on while the sausages are still hot. Thankfully, these go pretty quickly at parties because the puddle of congealed fat on the bottom of the plate is pretty nasty-looking!

I want bacon candy!

Gee, after that video, I actually want to try bacon candy. (I won't though.) Some candy manufacturer will see it, and we'll see it on the shelves withing the year. (extravagent price, with something added to make it even more unhealthy. what could that be? It has plenty of fat, salt and sugar.)

The idea of doing the videos is great! Will you continue doing that? (I loved the facial expression on the cottage cheese-Jello ranch dressing(!) item.)

Well, the cottage cheese one leaves me feeling vaguely unhappy, but the bacon candy does look kind of good. I don't know if I'll ever dare try it, but I like thinking about it.

you can't go wrong with anything with bacon in my book. if you are looking for an occasional treat try Vosge's Mo's Bacon Bar-bacon with chocolate-yum!

Enjoyed the video, very interesting, he was brave to taste that cottage cheese mix!
Hey lisawonbig just wanted to let you know that bacon candy is already on the market. It was a different from what's on the video. It was chocolate covered bacon and it wasn't bad tasting, it wasn't nothing to get excited over either, it just tasted like salty chocolate really didn't taste the bacon.

The recipe I have puts the sweetness on the inside of the appetizer. Take a pitted date and wrap bacon around it then put it under the broiler until crispy. It's the first to go at parties.

Loved the video!! Thanks.

Let's try to make a small batch at least once and post your reply: cook bacon to extra cripy & cut into square pieces; caramelize brown sugar & a bit if Mint flavored syrup without add'l salt. Drip thin layer of the mixture on cookie sheet/pan-line up bacon ps. on rows & bake at 350 for 20-30 min., cool off & break up into brittle candy. Ending with a cup of plain hot tea with lemon w/o sugar. Much less fat, sweet than other creation. Good luck & enjoy. Pat T. in Queens, NY 5/21/08

Bacon candy isn't all that different from when maple syrup overflows the pancakes and gets onto the plate with the bacon! Yum!

If you are eating bacon you have already blown it anyway - might as well add the sugar too! I wish I could eat that.

Let’s see… people have used (brown) sugar, maple syrup or honey for ages to flavor baked beans. And people have combined bacon & beans also, so to me it’s logical to have beans, bacon & something sweet!
We can even buy them canned, ‘Honey Mustard Baked Beans’, ‘Maple Sugar Baked Beans’, ‘Sweet Bacon Baked Beans’.
So, what's wrong with leaving out the beans and get to the good stuff?

BTW, one of the staples of Dutch cuisine is their (thin) pancakes, which serves as a dinner entrée, and yes, with sugar syrup, and yesyes, also the bacon pancakes are ceremoniously drizzled with syrup! Mmmmmm…!
