The Hall of Shame honors the worst of our guilty pleasures -- unhealthy food. Here are some of our favorites...

Learning to love liverwurst
Everyone in my family knows that my great aunt's favorite snack was a liverwurst and grape jelly sandwich on white bread. I never tried the combo, but I have learned to love liverwurst!
--Nicole

Marshmallow Madness
I am a peanut butter junkie. It would be hard for me to think of anything made with/from peanut butter that I don't like. My favorite sandwich when I was growing up (and yes, now as a mom!) is peanut butter and marshmallow creme. YUM!!
--Kathy

Why diet, when you can eat doughnuts?
I think that this deserves an entry into your Hall of Shame. I was appalled by this sign. The convenience store that I work at also has a Krispy Kreme case. Every once in a while, there is a promotion that has to do with coffee and doughnuts. When I got to work today and walked past the case, there was a sticker stuck to the window that read: Start your diet next month...Coffee and 2 donuts for 1.99. The sticker was put on the case by the company that I work for. I can't believe that they would encourage people to stop dieting just to sell a few more doughnuts.
--Shannon

Sister is strong to the finach, 'cause she eats her...
My sister, who is a peanut-butter freak and in awesome shape by the way, created a new sandwich she swears is fantastic -- two slices of whole-wheat bread with peanut butter, bananas, spinach and dipped in chocolate sauce. I guess she needed some way to add iron to her meal.
--Hanna

Cake batter gone wild
I love cake batter (of course, the eggs are mixed in). Grab a chocolate or yellow cake mix from the store, mix it up according to package directions and then, voila, eat to your heart's content. I must say it is very satisfying, and I can eat the whole thing.
--Melinda

Best ever peanut butter snack? We call it Batch: Mix equal amounts of peanut butter and margarine, then add maple syrup until the mixture is creamy. Spread on bread. Enjoy. Batch is the reason I no longer keep maple syrup in my house! My Mom was a bigger peanut butter person that I am, even eating it from the jar with a spoon, despite choking on it several times.
--Jimmie Jo H.

Not good for me or baby
During my first pregnancy, a few times I would make a batch of chocolate pudding. While it was still hot, I would pour it over heavily salted popcorn. Needless to say it wasn't a good treat for the baby, and I never did it again but I still dream about it.
--Maxine

Potato-chip sandwiches no longer an option
My cousin Sarah taught me how to make potato-chip sandwiches when I was a kid. Take fresh, soft white bread, pile on as many potato chips as you can, gently balance another piece of bread on top, then push straight down to crush the chips into the bread so you can pick up the sandwich and eat it. Nothing but salt and carbs, but the crunchy/soft contrast was delicious. I rarely have either white bread or potato chips in the house, so it's not something that ever really is an option any more.
--Kathie

Grandfather's twist on the Tastee Cake
When I was a kid, my grandfather would make me his favorite sandwich. A chocolate Tastee Cake cup cake, cut in half and filled with at least a quarter inch thick slice of creamery butter. You turn the icing in toward the butter; somehow it just doesn't taste the same. It still, to this day, tastes great and brings back comforting memories. Although today I talk about it rather than eat it.
--Elaine

Vinegar -- good for what ails ya'
As kids, my sister and I had strep throat ALOT. We wanted to eat potato chips, but with a sore throat we didn't dare. We also LOVED fair fries soaking with vinegar -- so much the bottom would fall out of the paper cup! Not sure who came up with the concoction but we still eat it today (some 20 years later). We add a small amount of vinegar to a glass of water (I prefer warm) and then add our chips to that. Then we finish the remainder of the "drink" once our chips are gone. We were able to eat the chips because they softened in the solution and the vinegar felt good on our sore throats!!
--Beth

What's gross to some ain't to others
OK, I don't understand. Bologna and whipped cream cheese isn't gross at all (it's the same as taking a laughing cow cheese and wrapping bologna around it), nor is PB & J with chips (I used to smush Doritos in my tuna sandwiches, but that's not that unheard of either). I thought I had a good one with peanut butter and butter sandwiches, but I guess not and even dipping my pizza in a tub of butter, but nope. Cream cheese and bologna beat me. Blah.
--Dan Gauron

Now that's dessert
I will admit that I ate this WAY too often once upon a time: I would take a strawberry shortcake cup and fill the center of it with Nutella. Then chopped up frozen strawberries with starberry syrup were piled on and topped with a HUGE mound of whipped cream and chocolate syrup. It's SO decadent!

When I was a kid, I dipped my french fries in my chocolate shake! Now in my 30s, I never thought I'd see potatoes and chocolate again until I recently discovered chocolate covered potato chips at a local candy store. (I don't buy them...honest!)

White bread, peanut butter and blueberry jelly. Take a bite of the sandwich and then a bite of a baby dill pickle and chew it all up together. Awesome.

Another strange but delicious combo is a real new york plain bagel untoasted with a thick smear of cream cheese, layer on doritos, smash and eat. Yum. But I also put ketchup and onions on my mac and cheese so clearly I am weird.

I like to eat Jewish Salami with a thick layer of crunchy peanut butter on it. It tastes the best when the salami is not brand new and fresh but a little older and starting to get hard.

A favorite of my family and my grandmother who passed away 4 years ago at the young age of 109 is sharp cheese in our coffee. This was usually a treat for Sunday breakfasts. We call it cheese coffee. Try it,it's great.
Make sure your coffee is hot and cut your sharp cheese into chunks, you just want the chunks to melt a little, not entirely.

Worst thing I ever ate??
Sardine sandwiches.
2 slices of white bread & a can of sardines.
I remember loving them as a kid. Just thinking about them now turns my stomach.

The worst I ever ate was a favorite of my dad's. It was syrup and peanut butter mixed and poured over mom's homemade biscuits. I always loved sugar sandwiches, that was what I got when I wanted something sweet

I used to eat bologna sandwiches that were made with sour cream instead of mustard or mayo. Bologna, white bread and sour cream. It was the only way I could eat bologna at all unless I fried it - then I used mustard.
I can rarely eat processed meats at all now without getting sick.

six nature valley granola bars (yes the kind that come 2 in a pack) with a half a jar of peanut butter!
Once I start I just can't stop! I'm a peanut butter addict

Once I added sardines, extra mayonaise, buffalo sauce, fried fun size snickers and put a few french fries inside a McDonalds Bic Mac. Hard to eat, but delicious.

I am kinda glad there are other peanut butter freaks out here in the world. peanut butter is truly my weakness and I never get tired of eating it... the best way is eating it off the spoon, but if I use peanut butter on a slice of bread I can stop myself a lot more faster than just eating it off a spoon.

During exam, I was too lazy to go anywhere. So I just ate 500gr.white bread, 1 box Lexus(biscuit either with peanut butter or cheese) and 1 chinese "pao"(round bread) stuffed with honey chicken everyday for 5days.

Haha, no wonder I got sore throat for 1month after that!

The best peanut butter sandwich and it can be healthy by using good bread though wonder bread was the choice back then is p-butter, bananas and mayo. I have eaten this recently just to give a skeptic a delicious taste.

In Junior High school, I used to buy a Suzi-Q and Dr. Pepper as an afternoon snack. Later on in my early 20's, Winchells doughnuts and kool-aid. What the heck was I thinking

In 1963, I was 11. Late Christmas Eve, I was sitting up late helping my dad wrap presents for my six younger siblings. We wanted a snack that we could eat while wrapping gifts. Dad created a snadwich that I still enjoy - peanut butter, popcorn (no butter or salt), and honey! And we used Canada Dry Ginger Ale to chase it down. My own kids thought I was nuts when I mentioned a peanut butter-popcorn-and-honey sandwich - until they actually tried it. Now all six of my own kids enjoy this treat occassionally.

Bake refrigerator roll-type chocolate chip cookies til they're not quite done, then flop one on Dorito - I started with NachoCheese doritos, but have also used plain. It's the salt/sweet killer of all time. Chase with an ice cold beer.

When I was in High School, I worked at a little diner, and we would take the french fries and dip them in the hot caramel (for ice cream). It tasted just like french toast! I haven't tried it since then, but we were all hooked back then!

My grandson loves to eat peanut butter on white bread with a slice of cheese and garlic balogna.

I started doing this one in college. First, I have a tub of peanut butter, a can of crisco, and a bag of sugar. I take one handful of peanut putter and a handful of criso (in both hands) and then dip both into the bag of sugar making sure to coat them nicely with sugar. Then I take both balls of sugar coated crisco and peanut butter and wrap them in a chicken skin and deep fry for 2 minutes.

Ok grab your stomachs.Take slices of a whole onion, preferably yellow or white onion, then ketchup and peanut butter between 2 slices of wheat bread...Heaven! Now I just about like onions on everything without the bread...lol

I like to put salsa on mac and cheese and baked beans. My daughter likes hot sauce and parmesan cheese on popcorn - that one is actually pretty good!

A grilled PB, mayo and bacon sandwich - don't knock it if you haven't tried it! Spread about a 1/2 inch layer of peanut butter on a piece of white bread, fold 3 slices of hot, cooked bacon and place then on top of the peanut butter. Spread a goodly amount of mayo on another piece of white bread and put it mayo side down on top of the bacon and peanut butter. Then butter the outsides of the sandwich and grill it. A most satisfying meal with a big glass of milk. MMMMMMM. LPD, NC

The best ever is a couple of huge spoons of PB microwaved until soft. Them mix in a smashed overipe banana and some honey. You can spread this on soft white bread, or just eat it with a spoon... If you are in the mood for chocolate you can add some Hersey's. Yummy!!
