Nice opinion but where’s the science? And no, I don’t drink much caffeine; just find these tidbits of opinion useless.
My common sense opinion? Caffeine in excess is probably bad for your heart… but it does nothing to hinder a diet.

I have heard many negative things about coffee. The only one that seems to be backed up by scientific evidence is that its a MILD diuretic. Every refernce i have seen that does not include the word MILD is always expressed in Generalties without supporting evidence.

Interestingly water is a diuretic. If you drink it you will eventually visit the lou. This raises the question as to whether it is the caffeine that is a diuretic or simply the fluid.

As to an aid to dieting this site has referred to research that says the coffee (read caffeine) actually aids the reabsortion of stored fat and its use.

I have lots and lots of the Chinese tea which has something similar to caffeine if I believe what it says, but too much and just like caffeine I am tired all day and so I have four tea bags which I let sit in the formerly boiling water for up to an hour and then I add Stevia to sweeten it. I have found my blood pressure has improved when I drink it daily, but this is just humor, antidote, so I can't official it. I like the extra pep when I don't drink too much of it. As far as coffee, I only drink it in the hospital and I only like Coffee Milk and so I can't help with the coffee situation, sorry about that.

Giuseppe Verdi drank 15 coffees a day and lived up to 88 years of age.

Lifestyle, other-than-coffee-nutrients and genetic dispositions are to blame. Not coffee itself…

I love green tea, and I make it weak and it makes me feel much better, but when I was in Junior High, my teacher let me drink coffee if would calm me down and relax me and now it makes me tired all day. For Coffee, mostly I only drink it in the hospital and since I have only been in the hospital after Rita and in the end of May and start of June, I have always liked the coffee with at least half of it is milk since I don't like 'regular' coffee, I have never wanted the strong and lots of caffeinated version since thats bad for me, but the coffee milk is good and Stevita is what I can handle. My mom gave me some of the coffee packages and I will have some coffee milk on Saturday too. I am sure there is a lot of goodness in the coffee from the ideal which some have said. I know there are parts of coffee which are very healthy, I know the coffee milk does taste good.

This didn't tell me anything. She keeps repeating “only two cups of caffeinated beverage a day” – WHY?? What impact does this have on my diet? She never answered the basic question. As long as I don't load my coffee up with cream and sugar, coffee helps me stick to my diet. Cutting back on caffeine while dieting makes it harder for me to avoid snacking.
